[ welp no reason to delay, especially not if he's as worried as he seems. and, okay - as she disembarks on the ship, the reality of it sinks in a little bit. sokka is here, not just a video on a screen, and spirits if that isn't the most relieving thought she's had all day.
[Sokka sees her first and his breath catches. It's her, she's safe. She's OKAY. He normally has rules about hugging and lovey dovey weirdness, but those are thrown to the wind. He can regain his dignity later, all he cares about right now is that his little sister is here and she's not dead.

[ it's hard to remember that mindset - that worry, that fear - until sokka catches her in a hug and suddenly it's not hard at all anymore. she remembers the nights, the bad dreams, the intrusive and nagging thoughts and worries, and she is suddenly and almost overwhelmingly glad that she's there.
she loops her arms around her brother and hugs him tightly, lingering a little longer than she might usually - because she might not be recovering from the pain of missing him, but she wants to make sure that he knows that she needs him just as much as he needs her. ]
[He doesn't let go right away, not at all, he clings to her like a drowning man does a liferaft. Eventually, he does pull back, don't cry. DON'T CRY. He manages a short laugh fluffing her dumb hair.]

One of the early planets we came across had these hot springs, so I got some water from them, just in case. I didn't know if you were ever gonna show, but this is space and you never know if the water's gonna run out. Better safe than sorry, right?
