[This would normally be faced with a lot of suspicion and flat out refusal. Sokka has seen what happens when people's minds are played with and it's terrifying. Luckily for Allen, he's full of energy, he's not sure where it's come from, but he is ready for everything.
He doesn't even answer the message, he just zooms over, entering the lab and moving around, picking things up, putting them down as he talks ten to the dozen.]
Hey Allen, what do you need to look into my brain for? Is it something important? Has something weird shown up? Why is this jar blue?!!
[she's sent several texts since she saw the fighting start. she doesn't know which ship is is, but she knows some of them are getting pretty wrecked. her worried texts are numerous, and more panicked as he doesn't answer before she's finally leaving him a vocal message.]
[As if your day needed to get better Sokka! After dealing with the whole Aaron mess and about an hour of deliberating, Allen decides that he PROBABLY should let at least his captain know. God. Responsibility sucks]
[His voice does not sound happy. He sounds tired and annoyed]
[ Part of Allen knew it had been too long since the crew had lost a crewmate. A few months...that seemed like such a long time compared to everyone else's ship- compared to how their ship used to be. So when finds the roster one shorter...he can't make himself feel surprised. It's difficult to feel that way when you've spent most of your life having people taken from you. ]
[He does feel pangs of guilt. He should've tried harder to get to know this Aang. Should have reached out more. But Allen had kept his own walls up and he knew it. Was that really a better option? He...wasn't sure]
[Still, he knows that Aang's friends are probably upset, and worried. They still don't know what happens to people who leave for sure. Regardless of his own feelings about loss, it was his job to look after the crew. And so, he goes first to call up Sokka. Sokka is practically ritualistic about keeping track of things- he knows he didn't miss this.]
[That's...a really good question, and not one Sokka is sure he knows the answer to. He's seen people leave the Fleet before. Even people form home. Both Iroh and Zuko had vanished away. But Aang , Aang is different. Aang is the soul of their little group, the person who brought most of them together, who taught them so much and now he's just...gone.
There's a touch of guilt, too. He's not exactly been overly friendly with Aang lately, what with the whole Katara thing. He knows Aang will be back home, he's lived past the last point Aang remembers. But there's still concern. Concern that maybe things aren't what they seem, or that Aang hs been taken somewhere else before going home.]
Can I go for a non-committal grunt? I think that's the best answer I can muster up right now.
I just wanted to thank you for all that dating advice you gave me awhile back? I got a boyfriend now- and I think it's because the advice really helped! [Sure it was advice technically for dating a girl, but it was general enough to help!]
Hello. I just thought I would inform you that I have a monumental amount of extra food that will not fit in the icebox. I'd be appreciative if you could help eat it. Allen is a vegetarian, so he won't be able to eat everything that I made.
Come to the Bishop's kitchen if you are interested.
[On or after the 25th, if Sokka ever returns to his room on the Blue Fish, he'll find a sword resting on his bed. The blade, overall, is a darker grey color, but lighter than his previous space sword. Upon looking closer, he should be able to see a distinct swirling pattern in the metals. On the topside of the pommel is a familiar looking sigil.
[And when he does return to his room, he finds the gift. It touches him, it really does. It's a fine sword, one he can genuinely use. He recognises the sigil, but he knows straight up THANKING Toph for the gift would not be tolerated.
[Okay, so Allen left after Azula's post and said that he'd explain later, but Clay would really like more details now, seeing how doesn't want the rest of his crew possibly befriending this new person. So after a quick look through Azula's post, he sees Sokka react as if he knows her, and... well, that seems like the best place to go right there. From one captain to another.]
Hey, Sokka? This is Clay, captain of the Vanquish. Allen said not to go anywhere near Azula, but could you give me some more details on that? I'd like to know what we're dealing with here.
[And Sokka absolutely will not keep him in the dark. He's glad for Allen's prior warning though, it's a start. But it's important people know the basics. Especially anyone close to people on the Blue Fish. If there's even a tentative link to Zuko, there's a chance they could get themselves on the wrong side of her winning personality. ]
Yeah, sure thing. None of it's good, though. She's Zuko's younger sister - who right now is from far back in our timeline enough that she still thinks the war we won is going on. Which...is actually less terrible than it sounds, given losing the war threw her right into crazytown and made her even more dangerous than she already is.
...But she's still dangerous now. She's a powerful firebender and she can bend lightning as well. Add to the fact she's one of the Fire Nations best fighters and a master manipulator and you've got a very dangerous person on the Fleet.
[ he's been kept remarkably busy since azula has arrived. in training, and working, and scoping around the station. the blue fish has generally left him alone regarding the subject, which zuko both appreciates and finds annoying. he appreciates it because he doesn't want to be forced into talking about how to best kill his sister. and he finds it annoying because zuko is positive no one is asking him that because it's his sister.
still, he knows their time on the station isn't limitless, and soon they're going to be back on their ships. stuck there. and zuko is at least self-aware to realize that he doesn't want to hear what happens in a small enclosed space where he can't really leave. even the iskaluit isn't really big enough for the kind of spontaneous need of space feeling that zuko occasionally gets.
and so -- ]
I'm ready when you are, to talk about what happens to Azula.
[ it's a lie, but he's as ready as he ever will be ]
[Well, he knew this was going to happen eventually. He knows Zuko can't be kept from the truth forever, and better he hear from someone who actually cares about his wellbeing than...well, Azula. ]
not quite that but I have a blowtorch and a whole tone of ingenuity why is there something you need making? please say yes I am so bored give me a project, Riona
[He may or may not be attempting to raise his head in case something IS on fire, so there's a half-hearted sound of sheets being rustled on the other side.]
No. Wait. You sound happy. Why is there happiness happening when there should be sleeping?
Good meeting... ah, that is, Hello... Forgive me, is that Sokka? I was told by Doctor Crusher that you might be able to help me. My name is Maglor, and I was wondering about how easy it might be to set a forge up on the Iskaulit?
As for how easy, I guess it wouldn't be impossible? We'd have to get a lot of raw materials to make it, but if we hit a planet that had good bricks and solid metals, it's feasible.
